IT Systems Administrator – Bluestone National Park Resort
About Bluestone
Bluestone National Park Resort is a 5 star holiday resort in West Wales set in 500 acres, within the Pembrokeshire National Park. It now comprises 344 studios, cottages and lodges centred around a ‘village green’ with shops, restaurants, cafes, and a pub. Resort facilities include the Blue Lagoon sub-tropical water park (open to the public), an indoor adventure centre and luxury Spa.
Bluestones systems reflect the activities of the revenue generating areas (accommodation, dining, retail, leisure) and the buying habits of its customers (online sales and on park point of sale).
The Role
- Responsibility for the day to day running of Bluestone’s IT systems and network including backup, security, updates, monitoring, procurement, managing a helpdesk staffed by 2 colleagues (setting objectives, giving feedback, holiday cover etc), out of hours support, business continuity planning, disaster recovery, systems & network documentation, planning, ad hoc projects
- Reporting into the Head of Information Systems
Remuneration
- Salary up to £35K – 40 hrs per week

The Person
- Excellent knowledge of systems, software, technologies and suppliers to support business needs.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience designing, installing & administering networks and systems.
- A very sound and evidential knowledge of MS Operating Systems
- A minimum of 2 years managing a small team with strong people management skills and understanding of sound management techniques
- Ability to communicate ideas and details effectively to people at all levels and with varying degrees of technical knowledge
Technical Knowledge
- VMware vSphere(ESXi) with multi host and HA
- Microsoft - Windows Server all supported versions, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Internet Information Server Windows 7, outlook and other Microsoft Office Applications
- SQL Server including Enterprise Edition and/or Oracle reporting with experience of creating SQL scripts & stored procedures
- Active Directory, Group Policies and WSUS setup and maintenance
- Strong knowledge of reading various log files and using them to quickly and accurately troubleshoot issues
- Routers/Switches, Network equipment & software:
- CLI & GUI network device Administration, including configuration, troubleshooting and config changes
- Good understand of VLANs and VLAN configuration, L3 and L2 switching as well as L3 routing and syslogs and interpreting the results
- Experience of configuring and maintaining centralised storage systems and running them in a high availability environment
- Great understanding of firewalls and network security
- Experience of configuring high end firewalls and UTM systems
- Basic Linux configuration experience
- Great understanding of the importance of data security and mitigation techniques, including edge protection, anti-virus and social engineering
- Desktop applications and operating systems such as Windows 7, outlook and other Microsoft Office Applications
- Great at learning new systems and quickly gaining an understanding into the way they work
