Travel Active is a non-profit making community interest company that develops and delivers projects which support local communities and businesses to travel actively as part of their everyday journeys. We are seeking to fill the following vacancies:
Active Travel Officers, Schools (ref: TAC0066)
£22,000 - £25,000 pro rata per annum (dependent on relevant skills and experience)
37.5 hours per week - contract to 31 March 2017 – working from home or local authority office
NOTE: This post is subject to funding confirmation - there is potential to extend the contract to 31 July 2017 and likelihood of a further 2-3 years. There are 6 posts based in North East local authorities.
This role presents the applicant with an exciting opportunity to deliver and wide range of educational and promotional schemes to support the North East Combined Authority (NECA) in achieving increased levels of walking, cycling and scooting to and from schools, promoting walking and cycling to 9 – 13 year olds in selected primary and secondary schools, encouraging a culture of sustainable and active travel and supporting school ‘champions’.
With a good standard of education, you will have experience of working with children and young people, of partnership working within a community-based, health or environment project and have the ability to build strong working relationships. You will also have the ability to deliver engagement activities and promotional events. Your enthusiasm will be motivational to others and your excellent written and verbal communication will complement your strong organisational skills. IT literacy is essential as is an understanding of school settings and the health benefits of active travel. You will also be committed to active travel and the promotion of sustainable transport. DBS Enhanced Disclosure clearance is mandatory for this role.
