An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Credit Controller to join our busy Accounts team, Chester le Street, Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of Debt Collection / Credit Control.  You will be responsible for chasing all outstanding debt across the Firm in accordance with the Firm’s credit control procedure.  This will involve recording the chase history, payment timescales and schedules for all clients. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for proactively resolving and monitoring queries raised, liaising with fee earners as to any bad debts via email, telephone and monthly meetings as well as building strong relationships with key staff members.  In addition you will be responsible for analyzing and monitoring all assigned debtors and actively work to reduce debtor days.

You will be responsible for the provision of regular reports, detailing debts at both fee earner and management team level.  Such reporting should identify problem areas and make recommendations for their resolution.

In addition you will assist with the Financial Controller with any ad hoc credit control related projects. 

You will assist the wider Accounts team with day to day queries and all transactions during busy periods e.g. BACS payments, CHAPS payments etc. 

You will be required identify any new working practices / systems which will speed up the debt management systems and also share best practice with team members.

You will be expected to liaise with team members on any matters of non-compliance and thereafter report any such mattes to the COFA.

You will be required to attend all compulsory training as specified in the Firm’s personal development review system.  You will also be responsible for attending any professional courses in order to maintain any professional qualifications.

The successful candidate should be fully proficient in all Microsoft packages.  Previous experience of a case management system is desirable; however, full training will be provided. 

Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate should be flexible in their approach to work.

The successful candidate will have the ability to deal with clients courteously and expeditiously, promoting a favourable image of the firm.   The successful candidate will also have the ability to work effectively as a team and be able to communicate professionally at all levels across the firm.
