Joining the analytical team at our clients company will enable you to apply your technical and problem-solving skills to real-world issues. Providing data-oriented evidence to their consultants, you will be directly influencing the decision-making at emergency services around the world. As a result of expansion into the US and Europe, they are looking for a numerate graduate with a desire to make a difference within this critical and ever-changing sector.
The Data Analyst position will involve: understanding and analysing large data sets on high profile public projects; specifying data needs and delivering accurate, meaningful analysis; and working with consultants to model options for improved service delivery.
The work is project-oriented and mostly office-based, although opportunities will arise for visiting clients with consultants. Experience will be gained of the complete consultancy process and there are good opportunities to progress within the company.
They are seeking a recent graduate, with a strong numerate background. Current employees include graduates in Maths, Geography, OR, Physics and Management Science.
Proficiency in the use of Excel is essential; experience in large database manipulation would be an advantage Access or SQL, as would an understanding of GIS. For those with the appropriate skills, there are also opportunities to use their in-house simulation and optimisation modelling software.
They undertake complex study work often to tight deadlines, so there is a strong emphasis on working closely together. The ability to assess one own work and to communicate well with colleagues and customers is also important for this role.
Although they are expanding, the company is relatively small, therefore making the right appointment is key. They are offering a flexible start date to encourage applications from a range of candidates.
