Peripatetic Senior Advice & Information Officer
Tawe Business Village, Swansea
Sakary £19,510 p.a.
35 hours per week based on job share

This post will be based within the Advice & Information team to provide general advice and information, including welfare benefits and housing advice to people aged 50+ living in Swansea.

There will be 3 senior officers leading on either general health and social care advice, housing advice or benefits advice. Each officer will provide the full range of advice offered by the team but will be responsible for a key area of service delivery. The health and social care senior officer will be responsible for keeping the team, including the manager and volunteers up to date with changes in the health and social care system and for training all new staff and volunteers

Role and responsibilities
• To act as duty A&I Officer at Ty Davies on a rota basis, manage drop in enquiries & to supervise triage volunteers
• To act as the lead on health and social care, offering support to staff in managing enquiries relating to the health and wellbeing of clients, training staff and new volunteers in the key health and social care advice and information ACSB provide.
• To represent ACSB at training and events that will increase our ability to deliver effective health and social care advice and to cascade the outcomes to the wider team.
• To provide an effective general advice service
• Act for the client where necessary by calculating, negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning
• Assist clients with other related problems where they are an integral part of their case & refer to other advisers or specialist agencies as appropriate
• To provide systems of effective sharing of information internally and externally.
• To ensure that monitoring and evaluation of the service meet the required quality service.
• Provide regular reports to the line manager
• To develop opportunities with line manager to reach as wide and diverse client groups as possible.
• Maintain case records for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, and statistical monitoring and report preparation.
• Assist the line manager to market the project through outreach events across the area to provide a quality service
• To undertake any other duties as may be requested from time to time by the line manager including attendance at occasional out-of-hours events

What do you need?
Essential -
• Significant experience of providing health and social care advice and information is essential
• Experience of delivering housing and general welfare benefits advice & information
• Knowledge of assessment skills and casework management
• Ability to prioritise a range of competing demands, own work & deadlines
• Understanding the issues affecting lives of older people and their carers
• Experience dealing with consumer issues & IT literate
• Understanding of and commitment to the aims and principles of the service and ACSB equal opportunities policies

Desirable -
• Experience of the voluntary sector and inter-agency working is advantageous
• Ability to speak Welsh
