An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Estimator to join Project Solutions, the main and principal contracting arm of The Alan Nuttall Partnership. This role is office-based in the West Midlands with national travel.

The Alan Nuttall Partnership Ltd specialises in interior fit-out and retail display.  With almost 1 million square feet of dedicated production and logistics space, they design, manufacture and install signage, interiors and display equipment for all areas of food, retail, leisure, commercial, education and healthcare. Offering unique in-house testing facilities and extensive prototyping resources, they remain at the forefront of new product development, whilst offering tailored solutions built to client specification.

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for estimating costs and preparing quotations for each element of a project, ensuring that budgets and design briefs are adhered to at all times.  Your key duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Prepare estimates for wide range of clients, dealing with both concept and technical drawings, bills of quantities, plans, site surveys, sub-contractor enquiry packages, in-house manufacturing costs, final cost.
  • Provide accurate cost advice and undertake conceptual budgeting when required.
  • Carefully inspect tender documents and analyse to ascertain key requirements, identifying areas that will have implications to the business.
  • Analyse quote returns to ensure completeness/compliance and issue any necessary queries regarding scope and technical requirements(RFI).
  • Visit and assess site requirements.
  • Check measured quantities/take off quantities.
  • Plan progress through the tenders as they are worked on.
  • Ensure completion of all associated tender submission documents.
  • Make all clarifications and qualifications to accompany tender.
  • Carry out value engineering to reduce the costs of the tender where applicable.
  • Liaise with Contracts Manager, Surveyor and Buyer for cost effective approach.
  • Organise and chair the post tender handover meeting with the project delivery team, including issue of all tender information and build ups, ensuring a full handover of all relevant items.
  • Provide input into the review of supply chain members.

An ideal Estimator will have the following skills and experiences:

  • Demonstrative experience in retail projects or similar
  • Knowledge of building, material components, building regulations, estimating (including take off) and Health and Safety
  • Experience with variety of tender formats including traditional design and build tenders, single and two stage tenders under JCT and bills of rates.
  • A value engineering mindset and experience of concept development for clients to produce a practical way to achieve objectives.
  • Able to work autonomously or in collaboration with others and within strict time constraints.
  • Good client management skills.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide.

Qualifications

  • Trained to degree level in Estimating / Surveying or similar- Experience qualified also considered.

Health and Safety training to include:

  • SMSTS
  • CSCS Card Holder
  • Asbestos Awareness
