The College has an extensive system of Learning Support that operates across the whole College. There is a policy of inclusion and no discrete courses for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities; all students follow mainstream courses.
As Support Tutor (Specific Learning Difficulties), you will be working across all areas of the College, including the University Centre, supporting learners with specific learning difficulties to meet individually negotiated SMART targets, as well as achieving the qualification and progression that the learner aspires to. In this role you will be working one to one or in groups supporting the subject tutor.
You must possess a PGCE, or other recognised teaching qualification as well as an Assessors award for dyslexia. You will also have experience of teaching learners with dyslexia/ dyspraxia in a further education environment with knowledge of a range of teaching and learning styles.
You must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to liaise and negotiate with staff at all levels as well as have an awareness of current disability issues.
