Human Resources Advisor - Generalist

Responsible to Human Resources Manager

Responsible for To deliver an efficient and knowledgeable generalist service to the customer. To the support the plant in its achievement of its People Key Performance Indicators

Location Gestamp Llanelli

Overview

To provide a generalist service to front line managers on HR Policies and Procedures

  • Ensure that Line Managers are supported in Absence Management and govern the supporting policy and procedure to remain in target.
  • To support with Case Management on difficult Absence issues in line with provisions outlined within the Equality Act 2010
  • To provide advice and guidance to Line Managers on all HR processes including and any legislative changes.
  • To support managers through Investigations, Disciplinary and Grievance matters providing up to date knowledgeable advice using internal (Policy) and external (Employment Law) references.
  • To identify solutions to performance related issues.
  • To be the Llanelli plant's  Point of Contact for recruitment and selection

Key Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the accurate completion of a daily absence routine is followed including the preparation for the Managers Meeting
  • To coordinate Short term and Long Terms Sickness meeting and attend such meeting as appropriate.
  • To liaise with Occupational Health to support employees and conduct regular reviews with OH & HR Manager on complex absence cases.
  • To coordinate correspondence to support Line Manages throughout counselling's and disciplinaries for absence related issues and minor misconduct.
  • To participate in Investigations, Disciplinary and Grievance cases with the managers as appropriate, ensuring the timely management of the process and developing detailed case notes in case of legal challenge.
  • To ensure that all trackers and employee records are detailed and kept up to date.
  • To support Line Managers in the recruitment process as appropriate.
  • Liaising with the HR Advisor for Systems to produce monthly Organisation Charts
  • To liaise with the HR & UK Recruitment Manager on current recruitment issues for the plant.
  • To support employees with day to day queries on HR  and legislative Issues such as Sick Leave, Family Friendly Policies including Paternity, Maternity Adoption & Parental Leave etc
  • Ensure applications under Family Friendly processes are managed in line with procedure compliance.
  • To participate in project work where appropriate and look to continuously Improve the service from the HR Department.
  • To occasionally support the HR Manager with administration where appropriate (e.g Works Council, Deputising etc)
  • To provide absence & holiday cover within the HR Team when required
  • To undertake reasonable duties and activities where required to support the business.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience necessary

These should include:

  • Previous experience in a front line generalist HR role.
  • CIPD Qualified or working towards
  • Experience in managing complex Investigation, Disciplinary and Grievance cases.
  • Experience in managing complex absence issues.
  • Have a good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Be able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation.
  • Ability to, understand and interpret Employment Law changes and Case Law into a practical work environment
  • Takes ownership of own development and endeavours to stay abreast on changes in legislation, Employment Law and Human Resources topics.
  • Highly organised with the ability to effectively manage time and prioritise workload.  

Skills, Behaviours and Attributes desirable

  • Working knowledge of HR Systems including SAP, Open Options and My Options ( Crown)
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude towards change, with a willingness to be flexible and adapt to new circumstances.
  • Actively and positively works within a team to ensure an uncompromised departmental reputation within the business.

Hours/Shifts

8am - 4:30pm Mon - Thu

8am - 1:00pm Fri

Able to undertake a reasonable amount of unpaid overtime when business circumstances require.
