Training Manager

Responsible to HR Manager

Responsible for Plant Training & Development

Location Llanelli

Overview

The post holder will manage the learning & development on behalf of the business to ensure our people have the necessary knowledge, skills and motivation to carry out their roles and fulfill their potential within the organization. They will operate in a strategic role to be able to identify or develop programmes to satisfy the needs of the business and be able to liaise with external training providers and funding organisations to identify and take advantage of suitable opportunities.

Key Tasks/Responsibilities

These should include:

  • Identify training and development needs within the business using TNA, the Company's Appraisal Scheme and consultation with Departmental Managers
  • Review & evaluate current training programmes for effectiveness
  • Develop and Implement structured training programmes through all levels of the Company in line with the needs of the business while linking them to funded programmes where appropriate.
  • Keep up to date on latest funding opportunities to allow the business to take advantage of appropriate sources
  • Identify, design and develop new and innovative training programmes to ensure the business keeps up with the latest technological advancements
  • Manage costs of planned programmes to ensure they remain within budget and assess the Return on Investment
  • Ensure compliance of all Apprentices against standards including progress against targets, assessment against NVQ Units, Training Movements, Timekeeping & Attendance, Further/Higher Education, Management Reports, etc.
  • Direct Instruction/ Training of personnel requiring training as required
  • Development & Delivery of Company Induction Programmes
  • Implementation & Evaluation of Student Placements
  • Manage the Company's Further and Higher Education Schemes
  • Develop and Implement structured training programmes through all levels of the Company in line with the needs of the business
  • Selection & Recruitment of Apprentices
  • Represent the Company on various educational & training bodies
  • Ensure all Training records are up to date and current
  • Lead a department which includes the control and compliance for all Mobile Plant.
  • Support the roll out of Various HR Initiatives as appropriate.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience necessary

These should include:

  • Educated to or working towards to Degree level in a Training or HR Qualification
  • Hold a Teaching or Training qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in the Delivery of a Specialist L&D service.
  • Previous experience within the automotive industry in a Training role with good working knowledge of TS16949 and its implications on Training and development.
  • Ability to motivate, and get the best out of your team.
  • Good interpersonal and organisation skills with a working style which includes close attention to detail.
  • Evidence of a highly professional management approach and ability to build positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Be self-motivated, confident with a proactive approach.
  • An innovative presenter of ideas which enhance work practices and who is receptive to new ideas and participates in the implementation of change.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven negotiation skills, with analytical thinking and problem solving skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Experience and working knowledge of Apprenticeships and funding
  • Proficiency in all MS Office packages including Word, Excel, Outlook & Powerpoint.

Experience desirable

  • This post requires a person with leadership qualities, strong character, imagination and drive.  You must be someone who has experience in a quality role and be keen to take on a more senior challenging role.  Must either be time-served or have had substantial hands-on experience in similar manufacturing environment.

Special requirements

Based at Llanelli Plant, but will be required to travel intermittently to other UK sites; driving licence required.

Hours/Shifts

3 hours basic. Monday - Friday.
