- About the Application Support Specialist role
This role is working in a division of PPG called Pinetree Consulting which has over 30 years experience of providing software solutions and services to the UK Body shop and automotive refinish industry.
The main scope of the role is to provide telephone and remote technical service support to Pinetree customers on a range of bespoke software products.
Key Responsibilities of our Application Support Specialist
- Manage customer enquiries in a professional and pro-active manner, offer revenue generating services when appropriate
- Meet reporting requirements and deadlines; alert line/duty manager where exceptions occur
- Effectively manage own time to achieve tasks and objectives
- Service Desk - point of contact for all calls via telephone, email or referral to the service desk
- Occasionally perform customer visits to map customer processes to the software products to ensure a smooth and timely implementation and install Bespoke software at customer sites using documented processes to fall within timelines, alert line/duty Manager where exceptions occur and/or seem likely
- Maintain the incident history, actions and resolution using CRM software
- Communicate incident progress to relevant parties
- Escalate incidents where appropriate
- Perform occasional ad-hoc tasks as directed and as appropriate to a small department
- Co-ordinate available resources to ensure effective management of the outstanding incidents
What we’re looking for in our Application Support Specialist
- Essential IT skills; Jet SQL (intermediate), Crystal Reports (conceptual), Client/Sever Networking (conceptual), Microsoft ‘Windows’ range of products (intermediate), Microsoft Server Operating Systems (conceptual/Low Level). Microsoft ‘Office’ range of products – Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access (highly competent); Standard SQL Commands (Basic/Intermediate)
- Previous business to business experience
- Microsoft Operating Systems (2nd line support, PC & Server)
- client/Server networking skills (2nd line support)
- Strong analysis and problem solving skills - the ability to communicate effectively
- The ability to continuously learn and maintain up to date knowledge in an evolving product range
- Desirable - an understanding of the refinish/vehicle body shop market
Role requirement
- This role is predominately office based (Birmingham) however some flexibility is required – employee must be willing to stay away from home on occasion for training.
