This role is due to start in September and is full time, ongoing with no fixed end date and requires the successful candidate to support the pupil each day. The ideal candidate will have a teaching assistant qualification, but applications will be considered from candidates that have strong experience of working with young children, either in the classroom or in support work setting.

The school are also looking for someone with good working knowledge of Asperger’s Syndrome including social and emotional needs and with the initiative to manage challenging situations independently. Your role and responsibilities will include;

  • Supervise and provide particular support for the pupil, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.

  • Promote good behaviour, dealing promptly with incidents in line with established policy and encourage the pupil to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
  • To aid the pupil in their learning as effectively as possible by giving positive encouragement to reinforce self-esteem and confidence in each task.
  • Monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed.
  • Provide regular feedback on the pupil’s learning and development to the teacher and other professionals.
