The role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join our HR Team in Liverpool. This is a full time, permanent role with an excellent benefit package.
The main function of this role is to provide specialist HR advice, guidance and support to managers on individual and collective employee relations issues on all areas of HR policy including sickness absence, performance improvement, misconduct, grievance and appeals in accordance with current legislation, procedures and practice, ensuring compliance with our risk and regulatory framework.

Responsibilities:
*Coach managers particularly on complex and/or difficult cases, evaluating relevant options, and balance and mitigate associated risk to the business to determine most effective solution for the business.
*Develop strong relationships with managers of assigned business area(s) to both understand the operational context and relevant business and commercial drivers, and also to establish personal influence and trust.
*Maintain detailed case documentation to evidence adherence to policy and process and to evidence robust management of cases should legal action be required
*Review cases by business area to identify trends or issues and propose mitigating action where appropriate.
*Deliver training on areas of specialism to line managers to improve awareness and capability in the business.
*Escalate particularly complex or sensitive cases to the ER & Policy Manager which may expose W&G to significant 'risk' in terms of legal recourse and engage with the Internal Investigations team when required.
*Participate in or lead specified ER projects at the direction of the ER & Policy Manager
*Maintain knowledge of emerging case law and market developments and share good practice and knowledge to support the learning across the wider HRSS team.
*Promote a positive and harmonious approach to employee relations across W&G ensuring full and appropriate engagement with our trade union partners.
*Report conduct breaches to Operational Risk in line with IAR guidelines
*Report Group notifiable events in line with policy and procedures - GNEP
*Identify "red flag" cases to Senior Managers and/or HRBP's as appropriate
*Involve the Special Investigations team in cases involving financial crime
*Advise within the operational risk appetite of the business taking into account reputational risk
*Complies with relevant Group policies, testing and certifying (or considers and escalates) the adequacy and effectiveness of the business controls on a regular basis

About you
*Strong ER case management experience gained in a complex organisation;
*Strong influencing and questioning skills with the ability to challenge at a managerial level;
*Good knowledge and application of employment law and best practice;
*Experience of coaching and advising Business leaders through difficult people related issues
*Strong communication skills / good telephony manner;
*Flexible and adaptable approach to deal with changing situations and needs
*Degree level qualification
*CIPD qualified or 'working towards'
