About the role
Balfour Beatty Rail have an exciting opportunity for a Quality & Lean Process Engineer to join the team based in Liverpool.

Responsible for provision of advice and support on all matters relating to ETS' Quality management system, ensuring through the use of LEAN principles that the appropriate controls and processes are in place for the safe and consistent delivery of products and services. Similar support is to be provided to third parties as part of the consultancy business. Elimination of rework.

What you'll be doing

  • Ensure management system is compliant with legislation, client and BB requirements, incorporating changes as necessary
  • Review and facilitate improvements to the management system through application of LEAN principles
  • Facilitate external audits on ETS' management system
  • Ensure identified non-compliances are recorded and satisfactorily closed
  • Develop relationships and joint improvement initiatives with clients and suppliers
  • Provide support and advice on quality systems for tenders, projects and design
  • Carry out quality audits in accordance with the integrated audit plan
  • Carry out quality audits at suppliers and sub-contractors as necessary
  • Support projects with purchased product verification as necessary
  • Co-ordinate audits by external bodies as necessary
  • Provide monthly report of status of quality management systems for the business

Requirements

Essential:

  • Qualified lead auditor
  • Knowledge and experience of ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO18001
  • Experience in quality assurance
  • Experience in construction and/or rail
  • Experience in practical delivery of LEAN concepts within the construction/rail industry
  • Procedure & report writing skills
  • Risk assessment
  • Advanced IT (MS Office) skills

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of industry standards and applicable legislation
  • Degree/HND level engineering qualification (mechanical, civil, electrical or electronic)
  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering, construction, rail industry
  • Knowledge of or interest in design, technology and software
