Senior Manufacturing Engineer

We are a market leader in Aerospace and Defence, working with exciting technologies and materials to design and build some of the world’s most advanced composite structures. We are seeking experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineers with experience of aero engines processes and specifications, to join our busy Operations function based at our site in Crewkerne, Somerset.  We have both permanent and temporary positions available.

POSITION SUMMARY
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer you will support both ongoing production and new product programs. You will be responsible for the development, implementation and continual improvement of composite production processes, interfacing with design and operations teams as well as external customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To be part of the Manufacturing Engineering team responsible for integrating a major new project into the business through the NPI process into steady state production.
  • Provide key support to design for manufacture activities on New Product Introduction (NPI) and development programs.
  • Support the Tooling function, identify tooling needs and support tool design from concept through to final design.
  • Support the quality function through integration of QC documentation and Manufacturing methods Instructions.
  • Track/drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues.
  • Utilize lean-manufacturing principles and participate/lead in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs and increase capacity.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ideally a minimum HNC in a Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering related discipline or a minimum 5 years’ experience in the composite manufacturing industry.
  • Preferably to have worked with aero engines with an understanding of the processes and specifications relating to manufacture of aerospace composite components.
  • Computer literate, windows based and have knowledge of 3D model-based definition knowledge (CATIA preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work successfully in cross functional teams as well as communicate effectively and respectfully with all internal and external customers and employees
  • Strong project planning skills.
