The role

The successful appointee will manage a portfolio composed of a mix of straightforward and complex problem and potential problem debt exposures and consensual exit cases for stressed/distressed customer, providing a high level of customer support while protecting the bank's position.

The role holder will provide restructuring knowledge to restructure and rehabilitate customers, supported by more senior and experienced colleagues, as appropriate and provide in-depth expertise, including market knowledge and guidance to support customers and colleagues throughout the consensual exit process.

There will be a requirement to work collaboratively with all stakeholders including colleagues in Coverage and Credit and to build and maintain strong relationships and trust with customers, enabling the delivery of difficult messages, whilst appreciating the sensitivity of customers and an exit case and maintain the highest standards of conduct throughout the restructuring relationship.

The role holder will also assist more experienced colleagues on complex cases to broaden skill-set and widen knowledge in restructuring and exit expertise

* Knowledge of and a proven ability to apply a variety of negotiation tools and techniques
* Demonstrable high quality relationship management, communication and influencing skills to build excellent customer relationships across a portfolio in a sensitive situations
* Proven ability to identity key issues impacting customers and to formulate straightforward solutions, including the use of appropriate professionals
* Knowledge and ability to apply negotiation tools and techniques
* Understanding of the wider economic, regulatory and commercial environment, and issues affecting RBS including Front Line's key drivers
* Network of professional contacts internal & external
* To be aware of and comply with relevant Group and SRMU Policies.
* To be aware of and follow operating procedures which include relevant controls to meet Group and SRMU Policy requirements.
* Knowledge of refinancing options, including ABL market, external demand for loans/sectors from funds of banks, access to alternative financing, e.g. crowd-funding
* Proven experience in the interpretation of straightforward financial analysis - credit, capital, modelling and provisioning knowledge
* Up-to-date awareness and knowledge of relevant bank policies, including Credit Policy
* Demonstrate a principled, high integrity approach to achieve the right outcomes in conjunction with people across SRM and the bank
* Knowledge of restructuring and corporate turnaround theories, models and practices
* Outline knowledge of insolvency law and application
* Ability to collaborate and communicate with varying levels of stakeholders
* Experience of engaging advisors and scoping assignment / negotiating co-ordinator appointments, etc
