Job Description: Excelsior College Intervention Progression Tutor

The postholder will work to the direction of The College Director
Day to day tasks and duties will be wide ranging and will include:

  • To work with an identified case load of students on improving their academic performance in College. Creating a range of intervention strategies that will be implemented for underperforming students
  • Organising and running 1:1 sessions with students, providing personal support through tracking, target setting and contributing to development of skills
  • Liaising with subject staff and monitor at risk of under achieving students. Devise individual support packages to improve performance and grades.
  • Work on developing independent learning study skills with small groups of students,
  • Organising undergraduate support from local universities
  • Organising work experience opportunities to support UCAS applications
  • Occasional in class support and delivery of tutorial periods
  • Maintain effective and detailed records of each student and attend weekly meeting with Assistant Principal responsible for raising standards to review students’ progress
  • To provide support advice and guidance on the UCAS process and higher education applications. Including setting up and monitoring UCAS completion timeline
  • To organise, administer and manage the UCAS process within the College
  • To chase up personal statements, subject and tutor references and ensure all information on UCAs application is correct.
  • Collate University entrance statistics
  • To liaise with Universities on open days, guest speakers
