Balfour Beatty Rail have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join the team!
You will operate as part of the Engineering and Technologies business unit of Balfour Beatty Rail and will be based in Liverpool, although may be required to travel to sites around the UK and overseas. Our Liverpool office focusses on the delivery of electrification engineering projects.
You will be responsible for managing project delivery including resourcing, planning, budget control and technical decision making. You will also engage in the work winning process in order to ensure the continued success of the business.
Reporting to a Senior Engineering Manager.
What you'll be doing
Engineering Managers are accountable for a team of typically 20 engineers and draughtspersons, delivering design and consultancy engineering, aiming to achieve the following:
- Delivery of projects on time, to budget and to the agreed specification
- Managing and deploying skilled and competent resources in Electrification
- Supporting the work winning process
- Growing Electrification engineering capability
- Developing innovative project solutions, and project delivery processes
- Developing personal and team capability and capacity

Who we're looking for
As an Engineering Manager you will have:
- A degree (or HND with significant experience) in electrical, mechanical or Civil engineering and will be used to operating in a Client facing technical environment.
- Ideally you will be a Chartered Engineer or working towards this.
- You will be a member of a recognized professional institution.
- You will be used to leading teams and driving to meet deadlines in complex solution environments.
- You will have project planning knowledge and be an active supporter of sophisticated planning tools.
- You will be able to demonstrate the application of your skills and experience in a technical, engineering and design environment related to a construction industry.
- Railway Systems and Electrification knowledge is not essential but would be seen as a positive benefit.
- You should be innovative and an excellent developer of both self and others.
