"The most important single ingredient in the formula of success is knowing how to get along with people"

Theodore Roosevelt

This not-for-profit organisation is looking for someone to manage their busy and dynamic communications team.

They manage 13,500 council homes across north Manchester and they feel strongly about their sense of community. You can read their vision and values on their website.

You'll be a good writer with experience of transforming complex messages into digestible chunks, but you'll be so much more than that. They need someone who is hands on, loves people and has the ability to work strategically all in one. You'll understand the media and will be a dab hand at a press release. But you'll also be able to adapt to a changing media landscape and will be able to produce high-quality audio, video and multi-media content.

Ideally, you'll have a background in journalism - they are looking for someone who is empathetic and passionate about people. You'll be equally at home interviewing a tenant on one of their estates or talking to their chief executive about housing policy. You'll have good interviewing skills and will understand that it's connections and relationships that really matter. Creativity, innovation and team work are valued at this organisation. When it comes to communications, they care about the 'why' as well as the 'how' - that's why they developed their annual communications plan. You'll enjoy thinking strategically about the messages they deliver as well as being hands on and you'll be interested in trying out new communication techniques. Pamela, who is leaving the role after four years, has written a blog post about her experiences.

You'll work closely with all stakeholders across the business to understand their communication requirements and to support key business objectives. This role is wide - you'll also be involved in making their digital first and customer insight strategies come to life so you'll need an interest in data analysis too. You'll need some people management skills too, as you'll be managing a creative, dynamic communications team which generates lots of ideas. You'll care about housing and the people who live in their homes. They care about traditional communications too and you'll take responsibility for improving brand engagement both internally and externally.

If you would like to be considered for this challenging opportunity and believe that you have the skills required for this role, please visit their website.
