We are looking for a part-time Medical Receptionist/Administrator to join our friendly surgery in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to work in an interesting and diverse healthcare environment.

The Whitswood Practice is one of two that make up The Robert Darbishire Practice group. The two practices work together and share resources to deliver inclusive, high quality care in a welcoming and supportive environment that encourages learning and development.

The Whitswood Practice has 3,500 patients. There are 3 GPs, a practice nurse and a healthcare assistant, as well as an onsite manager and clerical staff. There is also support from staff based at The Robert Darbishire Practice, with access to joint training opportunities.

The Reception Team provides our telephone, reception counter service and administrative support for the practice. The work is varied and interesting and includes welcoming patients and visitors, understanding and interpreting patients’ needs, resolving queries where possible or signposting patients to the appropriate service or appointment, booking appointments, processing repeat prescriptions and completing administrative tasks.

You will be well-motivated and friendly with good people skills and enjoy working in a busy environment. You will have previous experience of either working with the public or administration. You will be able to communicate clearly and effectively, showing understanding, care and assertiveness when appropriate. You will have good administrative and organisational skills and experience of using computers. You will be friendly and approachable and have the ability to work well within a team.

Our patients depend on us so you need to be reliable in attendance and punctuality and have an accurate and thorough approach to work. You will need to be committed to give a good service to our diverse population.

You don’t need to have worked in healthcare before as long as you possess the above qualities and are willing and eager to learn new skills and are flexible in your approach to work. We will provide in-house training and support.
