The Driver role:

As the Driver you will be responsible for providing an effective and efficient transport service whilst having due regard for the needs of vunerable adults. Your key duties will include:

  • Transporting and escorting clients from their home to a centre or other destination point
  • Ensuring clients are properly assisted prior to, during and at the end of their journey having general regard to the welfare of the client
  • Reporting to the appropriate person on changes observed in the physical and mental well-being of clients and summon the appropriate services in the case of emergencies
  • Inspecting, maintaining and cleaning vehicles as required
  • Complying with statutory and departmental regulations and good practice guidelines

Requirements of the Driver:

  • Extensive driving experience
  • Clean UK driving licence to include D1
  • Certificate of Personal Competence

You  should be an excellent communicator with a patient and caring disposition. A flexible approach to your duties is key due to the nature of the role, whilst being comfortable liaising with clients and public dealing effectively with a diverse range of situations. You should be a confident team player with fantastic time keeping skills and able to undertaking moving and lifting tasks where required.

Desirable requirements:

  • NVQ2 in Transporting Passengers by Road
  • Experience of driving a variety of vehicles
  • Experience of care/assistance
  • A demonstrable understanding of vehicle maintenance
  • Empathetic approach to adults with dementia & learning difficulties/disabilities
  • Understanding of road safety issues
  • Knowledge of the Highway Code
