Support Worker – Outreach Community Services (Care) BLUS37940

Stockport/Manchester/Trafford

£7.20 per hour

Flexible Hours

Our client provides a range of social care, special education, community support and consultancy services in the North West of England. The charity is one of the North West’s largest providers of residential homes for children from short-term emergency care to long-term placements. Their fostering service provides family placements in the North West and neighbouring regions.

They have a number of exciting opportunities to join their Outreach team in Stockport, Manchester and Trafford. This service provides support to families and their children to access services and activities in the local Community and home environment. These roles are extremely flexible and they offer working hours from 4 to 20 hours per week. The majority of the work will be after school/early evenings and weekends typically between 3pm and 9pm Monday to Friday and 9 am to 6.30 pm at the weekend. There are additional hours available during school holidays. You will be part of a large team but the nature of the work will require you to work on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with the children you support.

The service focuses on enabling children with learning/physical disabilities or an autism spectrum condition to access their local community to enjoy leisure activities of their choice, to sustain and develop new friendships and to have the opportunities that all children deserve to learn and enjoy new skills and interests.

Experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. The role requires a high level of commitment and the desire and ability to provide the best support that they can whilst respecting the needs and values of the individuals you support. They’d like you to have good communication and interpersonal skills and be flexible to respond to the needs of the projects and the service users.

A Level 2 or 3 QCF award in Health and Social Care (Children) is essential – should you not already hold this award, the opportunity to gain this award within timescales set by the Trust will be required.
