Salary: £8.25 per hour

Hours: 15-20 hours per week on a rolling rota.

We have been a charitable housing organisation for nearly 60 years. Throughout this time our residents are always at the heart of what we do and the services we provide. We are currently looking for a General Assistant at our home in - LOCATION -

As a General Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean environment in all areas of the House to maximise resident's comfort and enjoyment of their surroundings.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Keep all allocated areas clean, tidy and presentable at all times
• To provide assistance in bed making as required
• Help prepare, cook and serve 2 meals a day (the main meal at lunchtime and a light tea)
• Wash up and leave kitchen in proper state of cleanliness including the discarding of rubbish, wiping and cleaning of work surfaces, hob and oven, and brushing and mopping the kitchen floor.
• Launder textiles as required
• Ensure that the house is secure at all times whilst on duty
• To inform the senior member of staff on duty and the resident concerned immediately of any breakages or damage to possessions
• Check bathroom, toilet and bedroom for occupation by a resident prior to entering
• To ensure that all equipment is used in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and reporting immediately all breakdowns to the senior member of staff on duty

Travel may be required to other locations, therefore, a willingness and ability to travel is essential.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Ability to communicate and interact well with people
• To be able to read and write to a good standard
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Show an understanding of the needs of older people
• Ability to carry out all aspects of the role to a high standard at all times

Desirable:

• First Aid Certificate
• Food Hygiene Certificate
