Medical Secretary/Receptionist required at Kirkburton Surgery

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the practice for a Medical Secretary/Receptionist. The candidate will be joining an established forward thinking training practice. You must have good IT skills. We currently use Emis Web as our clinical system but will shortly be moving over to Systm1.

34.5 hours per week over 5 days, NHS pension

JOB DESCRIPTION

Secretary/Receptionist

Job Summary:

To provide general secretarial support to the Doctors and Health Professionals involving word processing and audio typing skills with general clerical work. To cover reception one and a half days a week

 

 

 

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

 

 

  • To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs and Health Professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, memorandums, etc. in an accurate and timely manner.
  • To assist the Practice Managers with all clerical and administrative duties.
  • To make appointments as required.
  • To cover all areas of reception including prescriptions, ordering of ambulances, general admin, front desk
  • To liaise and arrange meetings as required and to attend meetings and take minutes.
  • To establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.
  • To retrieve medical records for health professionals.
  • File patient records and correspondence in patient medical records.
  • To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
  • To maintain the computer clinic system in an accurate and secure manner.
  • To assist with the gathering of statistics and information when required.
  • To provide cover for the other member of the secretarial/reception team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
  • To maintain a system for smear recalls/DNAs etc
