Summary

Trinity Mirror plc is seeking a talented writer and sports fan to join our central team as a Social Media Writer focusing on sport. Reporting to the Digital Head of Sport, you will be expected to work with our regional centre's such as Manchester Evening News, Liverpool Echo, The Sentinel & Birmingham post (plus many more).

You will help develop our social media coverage of major sports clubs and events by working across all our regional titles, producing content, sharing ideas and ensuring best practice is followed. This is an exciting and demanding new role that requires an understanding of what sports fans want to read and watch to enable you to produce content that puts supporters first.

This role is flexible on location and we will require you to travel occasionally for business purposes (expenses will be paid as per our Expenses Policy).



Package

Trinity Mirror plc has a strong benefits package which includes, for this role, a base salary of £20,000 per annum (depending on experience), 33 days holidays including Bank holidays, a competitive pension along with an extensive flexible benefits portfolio. As this role requires occasional travel, you will need to have a driving license.

Main Responsibilities

In order to succeed in this role you will:

  • produce content around sport, mainly football, which will appeal to and engage our audiences
  • use social media to engage with and build our audiences
  • be able to produce outstanding multi-platform digital content across our different production platforms
  • spend time with our regional centres to assist their sports desks and lead by example when doing so
  • help to plan for & produce content ahead of major events both locally & group-wide
  • produce content to support central and group-wide campaigns such as Fantasy Football
  • support the Digital Head of Sport in improving the group-wide sports content offering
  • use analytics and data intelligence to guide your own and sites' content production
  • cover major stories and breaking sport news in a fast-paced digital environment
  • maximise opportunities for audience engagement and interaction through emerging social media platforms and applications
  • support the Digital Head of Sport and Live Sports Editor in implementing innovative content strategy across the group
  • identify new opportunities for growth and development, particularly around digital sports content
  • ensure all work at all times conforms to Trinity Mirror policies and procedures
