Fundraising Officer

Department: Business Development
Who you report to: Fundraising Manager
Who reports to you: Volunteers
Salary: £22,415 (Officer grade 3)
Probation Period: 3 months
Holiday entitlement: 20 rising to 25 days + public holidays

Background:
The Fundraising Officer works to deliver the annual trust and private donation fundraising targets for the company.

The aim of your job is:

  • To provide excellent customer service to customers and visitors to The REP
  • To ensure the safety, comfort and wellbeing of customers and staff at all times
  • To support delivery of The REP’s business plan
  • To identify and target new sources of income for The REP
  • To contribute to the delivery of the annual fundraising income target
  • To service the needs of all trusts and private donors of The REP

What your main duties cover:

  • Identify and apply to appropriate grant making trusts and foundations for revenue, capital or project grants
  • Undertake research to identify suitable trusts and individual donor prospects and implement appropriate cultivation and communications activity
  • Maintain CRM database ensuring up to date customer contact details, entitlements, communications history and customer links
  • Record and process all trust income, applications and correspondence as well as all trust expenditure
  • Ensure all contracted benefits or requirements are delivered to trusts and donors in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintain and exploit the development area of the REP’s website to ensure an appropriate presence and extra support for fundraising campaign activity Plan and organise trust and donor development and networking events including invitations, catering, ticket and programme allocations, room booking and all other special requirements
  • Plan, organise and host hospitality events for trusts and donors including catering, ticket and programme allocations, room booking and all other special requirements
  • Work with catering and all REP internal departments to ensure the smooth running of events
  • Plan and implement all trust and donor stakeholder communications in conjunction with Marketing & Communications Team
  • Attend events as required to promote The REP, its charitable status and its fundraising aims.

General:

  • Maintain a high standard of appearance when working with the public
  • Liaise with relevant Library of Birmingham staff as and when necessary
  • Communicate with and manage volunteers as necessary
  • Maintain regular research into fundraising opportunities
  • Support and promote all company policy, with specific attention to Equality & Diversity, Customer Care, Health & Safety and Data Protection
  • Ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times with particular regard to the health, safety and welfare of customers, visitors, staff and yourself
  • Support the organisation and its staff through the effective use of the performance management system
  • Any other reasonable duties required to ensure the smooth running of the development department

Previous Experience:

  • Knowledge of principles of fundraising is essential
  • Proven track record of securing income from trusts and foundations or of drafting trust applications
  • Computer literacy and competence in drafting a range of documents is essential
  • A good telephone manner and confidence in client facing environments in essential
  • Experience of working in a producing theatre or similar charitable environment is desirable
  • Experience of ticketing & CRM systems is desirable
