Teaching Assistant required to support secondary aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Issues (SEMH)

Responsibilities:

- act as positive role model and behaviour mentor.

- carry out pastoral tasks relating to your assigned group.

- adhere to school policies and procedures.

- promote inclusiveness and a safe, fun and secure environment.

- support pupils with learning and aim to increase attainment as well as social and emotional outcomes.

Requirements:

- have experience of working with primary aged pupils.

- have supported young people from vulnerable and challenging backgrounds.

- know how to deal with difficult situations and remain calm under pressure.

- be able to build rapport and trust with pupils quickly.

- be sympathetic towards differing needs and backgrounds.

- there may be a need to escort pupil from one site to another so drivers are preferable but not essential.


You don't need to have been a TA in the past but you may be from a youth work, care, or education background and have transferrable skills. If you have done Team Teach Positive Handling training in the last 2 years that would also be beneficial but not essential.
