Trainee Pest Control Technician
Bournemouth

Service Technicians are responsible for carrying out pest control inspection and treatments in commercial and domestic premises.

Roles and Responsibilities

* To compete Routine Inspections at contract sites, including pubs, restaurants, hotels, hospitals, office blocks etc
* To write treatment reports for each client at the end of each inspection, advising on work carried out and including recommendations for ways in which the client can help to avoid further pest problems.
* To attend emergency call outs for pest infestations and complete treatments as necessary
* To carry out follow-up visits at sites with on going pest problems
* To maintain diary to ensure all scheduled visits and appointments are completed.
* To record details of work carried out on time sheet and contract cards
* To assist with service work in other technicians areas when necessary (this may occasionally involve an over night stay in bed and breakfast)
* To complete pest control inspections at local authority properties to the agreed procedure
* To identify new business opportunities and pass on to sales team
* To service Electronic Fly Killers
* To undertake minor proofing work to restrict pest access
* To complete risk assessments and work to set procedures
* To assist the Bird Control team with cleaning and proofing works
* To maintain stock levels within vehicle
* To undertake pigeon shoots using a .22 air rifle
* To provide emergency weekend cover according to rota (currently 6 weekends per annum)
* To revise for and pass both internal and external pest control tests, some of which will be in your own time.
* To complete occasional 'filthy and verminous' clearance jobs

Qualifications and Experience

* Must have full driving licence and be able to read a map
* Good communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a wide variety of different types of people
* Must be literate and able to communicate effectively in English
* Problem solving skills
* Attention to detail
* Ability to work to set procedures and follow instructions
* Enthusiastic, positive and keen to learn
* Must be confident to work at height and in confined spaces

Pay and Conditions

Starting basic salary £15,474
Qualified Technician basic salary £16,786
Overtime is paid at time and a half for hours (or travel) before 8am or after 5.30pm
We have a six point grade structure, with three grades of Senior Technician.

We are a service providing company and the role will involve regular overtime to meet our clients needs (the current average is 20 hours per month) and occasional out of hours work.
Standard working hours are 8.30-5.00, with half an hour lunch
Commission is paid on successful sales leads.

A van is provided for you to work from. If you choose to use this for private use at the weekend a charge of 12p per mile is applied.

We operate a performance related bonus scheme. The current maximum is £2,000 per annum.
Uniform and Personal Protective Equipment are provided.
You will be paid £16 per month tax free to cover the cost of keeping your van and uniform clean.
You are paid £15 per day when on call plus the hours you work paid at time and a half
