The Coal Authority has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Hydrogeologist to join the team based in Nottinghamshire. You will be on a full time permanent contract, with a highly competitive salary of £21,521 – £30,583.
We’re looking for an Assistant Hydrogeologist to join the technical team within our environment department. It’s an exciting and challenging role and we’re looking for someone who wants to be part of a team creating innovative environmental solutions caused by our mining legacy.
You’ll be
- providing expert advice on hydrogeology of abandoned coal and metal mines
- analysing and managing the monitoring of data collected throughout the coalfields of Great Britain in order to predict where, and when, new polluting discharges may occur due to rising mine water
- involved in the delivery of a growing number of commercial mine water projects
- contributing to the development of future strategies to prevent pollution
- designing and project managing new boreholes
- representing the Authority at meetings with regulators, researchers and many others
- answering enquiries about mine water from the public and industry alike
You’ll have
- experience in managing large, complex datasets
- a relevant qualification in hydrogeology
- good computer literacy
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be self-motivated
- an ability to manage and prioritise a high-volume workload
