Maintenance Assistant

Study Inn has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team based in Coventry City Centre.  You will be on a full time permanent contract, with a highly competitive salary of £7.65 per hour.

Study Inn is a new concept in Student accommodation and combines the security, quality and comfort of a Hotel with the fun and vibrancy of student halls or residence.  We have extensive experience in designing, building and operating both hotels and private student halls of residence.  Study Inn first opened in Coventry in 2009 with the objective of creating the best quality serviced student housing available in the UK.  Between 2009 and 2013 we opened three more centres in Coventry and new Centres in Nottingham and Sheffield which have gained Study Inn a National and International reputation. 

Maintenance Assistant – Job Role

As a maintenance assistant you will be responsible for the upkeep and presentation of our Coventry Centre. This will include carrying out checks on areas of the building as required and tackling maintenance issues causing minimum disruption to our customers. This position is full time working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. However, there may be the requirement to work weekends during busy periods.

Your responsibilities as our Maintenance Assistant will include:

-  Troubleshooting problems as they arise

-   Reporting on maintenance issues as required - Including reactive and proactive maintenance

-   Carrying out repairs to student’s rooms, communal areas and company equipment.

-   Minor repairs to furniture and internal fixtures and fittings including lights and bulbs.

-   Assist the centre manager in busy periods with deliveries and goods

-   Ensuring that our Health and Safety procedures are up to date and up held to protect you, colleagues and customers.

-  Collect and disposes of refuge from buildings and grounds

-   Carry out outside work such as cleaning walkways, yard areas and moving equipment

-   General knowledge of maintenance tools, equipment and supplies

-   A fine eye for the detail

-   An outstanding can-do attitude and the desire to work as a member of a structured team

-   Delivering exceptional customer service to our customers and putting their needs first is paramount

-   Carrying out daily and weekly reporting and paperwork

-   Receiving post and parcels and delivering them to rooms

-   Any other reasonable request asked of you by your manager

To apply as our Maintenance Assistant, you will need:

- Excellent customer service skills.

- Clear communication skills.

- Previous experience of a maintenance or handy person role

- Experience of working in an accommodation environment such as a hotel

- Evidence of success in completing maintenance tasks

- Ideally come with a particular skill or trade but this is not essential

- Impeccable presentation

- An outstanding can-do attitude and the desire to work as a member of a structured team
