Chester Zoo’s developing site requires a comprehensive programme of planned maintenance in addition to general repairs. We currently have a vacancy within our in house Maintenance team as a Painter/Decorator. The jobholder will carry out planned preventative and reactive painting and decorating works to the zoos building and structure. Theming and finishing works will be required to new exhibits, including the application of and applying specialist coatings to structures and components. The role will provide assistance to all other trades and undertake general maintenance repairs in order to assist in the provision of an immediate, competent, economic and professional response to building defects and department projects.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Served a recognised apprenticeship and gained City & Guilds craft certification, or equivalent.
- Extensive experience of maintenance works in a commercial/public services environment
- Construction Industry Safety Scheme (CSCS) certificate or equivalent
- Working at height and cherry picker experience and competency certificates
- Gained training, experience and have competence in application of safe use of ladders, manual handling regulations, COSHH and PPE regulations
- A flexible approach to working in support of multiple trades
- A full driving licence, valid to drive in the UK
Hours of work are 40 hours per week, five days out of seven.
Salary is £21,866 per annum based on a 40 working week.
