This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established company that undertakes social research for the public sector across the UK. They employ around 50 permanent staff as well as numerous casual interviewers and surveyors and offer attractive employment conditions within a large, friendly central Swansea office.
Currently, they have a vacancy for a Trainee Analyst - Full-Time (Swansea)
Initially, the post-holder will be expected to support in fulfilling analysis requirements for research projects but will develop to take full responsibility for analysis of their own project portfolio.
Whilst a range of different tasks will be allocated by a Senior Analyst or other nominated person, the person appointed may be responsible for:
- Producing samples
- Validating, integrity checking and sanitising data
- Producing data tabulations and cross-tabulations
- Drawing on background secondary research/data, where appropriate
Experience with handling large data sets and producing statistical outputs would be advantageous.
There is scope for the person appointed to develop their skills and experience beyond the role of Trainee Analyst and the company will provide sufficient training to achieve progression to an Analyst position, with salary progression to match.
The successful candidate should have the following skills and qualifications:
- Degree from any discipline (though mathematics, physics, statistics, psychology, social sciences, or engineering are desirable) NB they will accept final year/graduand applications pending results or relevant vocational experience
- Computer literacy, particularly experience with Excel, SPSS or other spreadsheet, analysis or database packages
- Confidence to work with large datasets and take interpretative decisions
- Experience of SPSS syntax, SQL (or similar databases), HTML, JavaScript and/or Regular Expressions and application of sample statistics to 'real world' data is advantageous
