Research Administrator

The Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM) at Durham University aims to inform and improve education in two ways:

1. By providing educators and educational institutions with a body of world-class research to support evidence-based education practices, and

2. By providing cutting-edge assessment and monitoring systems which support learning through the provision of robust information on the ability, attitudes, potential and progress of young people.

CEM is looking to appoint a 0.5 FTE part-time Research Administrator to provide administrative support on an Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) funded evaluation project looking at the effectiveness and delivery of the Maths Champions Intervention (delivered by the National Day Nursery Association: NDNA).  .

The contract will be fixed term until 31 March 2018 and predominantly office-based but may involve occasional travel around England possibly requiring overnight stays.

Please note that the salary is pro rata to the full time salary.

We are seeking an Administrator with experience and knowledge of supporting research projects who will be the first point of contact for the research team, and will be expected to demonstrate a high level of initiative and be confident in dealing with a diverse range of tasks.  The successful candidate will play a crucial role in liaising directly with the nurseries involved in the research, communicating with external consultants and other personnel, organising external events, assisting the project manager to monitor the progress on the project’s milestones and maintaining project records.

The successful applicant will require strong written, verbal and facilitation skills in addition to excellent organisational and administrative skills. S/he will be expected to possess a flexible approach, be able to work both independently and in a team and, importantly, be able to prioritise his/her own workload.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is looking to work on a high quality collaborative research project.
