Our Client is a charitable organisation that provides a range of flexible individualised care and support services for people with learning disabilities, mental health support needs and older people. Their services include supported living, domiciliary care, housing & care (extra care) schemes, care homes, day services and respite/short breaks.

Domiciliary Care Manager – Role Overview and Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the planning and delivery of care and support and for the selection, management and development of staff working within the Worcestershire Domiciliary Care Branch.

ESSENTIALS

  • Level 4 QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent
  • Experience of caring for older people at a senior level either in Domiciliary or Residential Care
  • Experience of Housing management
  • Experience of working with people with a dementia
  • Knowledge of supporting people with a dementia in a progressive environment
  • Knowledge of specific illnesses and trends in care that affect older people
  • CQC Fundamental standards and associated regulatory framework
  • Good communication skills including verbal and written for use within and external to the service
  • Supervising, training and mentoring care and non care staff
  • Competent approach to budgets and petty cash procedures
  • Good practice in adult protection procedures
  • Current Health and Safety legislation applicable to social care services
  • Understanding of discrimination experienced by minority groups
  • Ability to identify and evaluate training and development needs
  • Ability to work within a team environment and develop an effective team
  • IT skills, including using Microsoft Office tools
  • Able to travel within defined geographical area (Worcestershire) and other UK travel that may include occasional overnight stays
  • Able to work across all necessary shifts, as required, to ensure 24 hour staff cover, 365 days of the year
  • Car driver with own transport

DESIRABLES

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care or equivalent (eg Registered Managers Award)
  • Managing non care functions (e.g. catering )
  • Developing user centred service
  • Working with people in transition (eg moving from home or hospital)
  • Ability to deliver local training events for staff
  • Understanding of “Supporting People” policy and administration
  • Knowledge of welfare benefits appropriate to older people
  • Understanding of the needs of older people with a learning difficulty or mental health needs and how to support them to live valued lives
