Manchester Health Academy opened in September 2009 and is sponsored by Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust with Manchester City Council as co-sponsor. In September 2010 the Academy moved into a £20 million state-of-the-art building and is now amongst the most popular schools in the city, showing significant academic improvement, a rapidly expanding student population and growing sixth form provision. Rated by Ofsted in April 2015 as a good school, with many outstanding features, we are now embarking on the next stage of our journey to outstanding and are looking for exceptional and inspiring individuals to help us achieve this ambition.
Our vision is to combine education and health in transforming the futures of our young people. We are on the journey to becoming the provider of choice in a secondary setting and the hub of our local community: we will achieve this ambition. Does this excite you? Do you want to be part of something outstanding?
We currently have a vacancy for a Year Leader to assist the Academy with implementing strategies to ensure our students achieve excellent behaviour, attendance, progress and achievement. This will therefore involve communicating and engaging effectively with our students and their families to ensure all children and their families gain optimum benefit from the Academy. Suitable candidates will therefore have previous experience of working with young people and families either in an educational or social care setting. You must have the ability to interpret and report on a range of data on student performance and possess the ability to both manage student behaviour and motivate students, acting as a positive role model for individuals and groups of students.
As a member of the Academy’s Student Support Team you will support our students to achieve their challenging targets. This is an exciting opportunity to work as a member of a highly committed and talented team where collaboration and team work are essential. We are looking for enthusiastic, committed and resilient staff who will go the extra mile. This is not a desk based job and you will be visible around the Academy supporting the students in your year group. In return we will promise you a stimulating, supportive and rewarding working environment, where all staff are valued and encouraged to participate in the development of the Academy vision and strategy. You will also have the opportunity to access a range of excellent professional development opportunities to support your progression.
The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We therefore follow safer recruitment procedures and successful candidates are required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service, along with other pre-employment checks.
The role will be subject to completion of a successful 6 month probationary period.
Our application form, job description and person specification are available for download from our website (www.manchesterhealthacademy.org.uk). Application forms are to be emailed by the closing date to recruitment@manchesterhealthacademy.org.uk
Closing date: 15 June 2016 – 9 am
In the interests of economy, only short listed candidates will be notified.
