The Connect 8-25 project is part of Families First Welsh Government initiative.

This package is designed to support young people and families with any presenting issues which could affect their development in reaching the maximum potential for the child and preventing escalation into statutory services.

Outcomes

  • The Connect 8-25 Parenting service will work together to deliver the following outcomes:
  • Young People are engaged in positive activities that they enjoy
  • Young People are safe in their homes and communities
  • Parents and carers have the skills, confidence and capacity to provide a loving and nurturing environment, positive parenting and good attachment to their children
  • Parent’s carers and children have good communication.
  • Parents and carers have the skills, confidence and capacity to enable them to manage their lives and their children’s lives more effectively
  • Young People have good attendance levels
  • Young People achieve the expected level of attainment for their age
  • Young people and their parent/carers participate in the planning, delivery, evaluation and governance of services.

Your role:

  • The successful candidate will be required to support families in 1-1 and within a group setting. Supporting families with parenting issues which may impact on the child / young person’s healthy age and stage development.
  • To be able to plan and prepare group sessions with both young people and Parent/Carers and work strongly as part of a team when co- facilitating groups within local communities in Cardiff.
  • To liaise appropriately with Multi-disciplinary teams in the best interest of the supported family and while maintaining an outcome focused plan.
  • The ability to work flexibly and have strengths in good time management are important to the role also to be computer literate with sound general office admin skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills essential in making families who attend group feel welcome and valued.
  • The candidate will have excellent communication and listening skills - both verbal and non-verbal when supporting young people and their families.

About you:

S/NVQ 3 and CACHE Diploma 3 in Child Health and Social Care, or a relevant equivalent professional qualification in the field of education, health or social care is required.

Desirable experience in delivering evidence based parenting programmes, such as:

  • Family Links Parent Nurturing
  • Triple P - Parenting Positively
  • Strengthening Families for parents and Youth

Access to your own car is a must - as is the ability to work flexibly
