Management Accountant (Maternity Leave cover)

Job Elements: -

• To prepare a set of management accounts on a monthly basis to P&L, Balance Sheet and Trial Balance level.
• To enter and maintain accounting records on the Company's Sage 50 accounting system.
• Work as part of the Finance Team to produce meaningful, timely and accurate finance and accounting information to the business
• Enter data into Sage 50 accounts package (payments, receipts, invoices, expenses, journal vouchers)
• Play a proactive role as team member in systems development and implementation
• Purchase ledger, sales ledger and general ledger entry and management
• Balance Sheet Reconciliations, VAT/Intra-stat Returns, Bank Reconciliations, Accruals/Prepayments, Expenses/ Petty Cash
• Process payments
• Prepare prepayments and accruals on a monthly basis
• Review expense claims and process
• Reconcile petty cash
• Calculate depreciation on a monthly basis
• Intercompany trading accounting
• Process Payroll
• Credit Control

The ideal candidate will have:

• Must be a Part Qualified Accountant. For example with an AAT or PQ CIMA qualification.
• Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Working hands on within a small team to strict deadlines.
• Experience using Sage 50 or larger accounting systems
• Experience of preparing monthly Management Accounts, Variance Analysis
• Knowledge of Purchase, Sales & General Ledger
• Understanding of Debits, Credits, P&L and Balance Sheets
• Knowledge of Balance Sheet Reconciliations, VAT/Intra-stat Returns, Bank Reconciliations, Accruals/Prepayments, Expenses/Petty Cash
• MS Excel to intermediate level as a minimum and must have a knowledge of pivot tables
• Good PC skills, with sound basic knowledge of Word and Outlook
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to plan effectively to meet deadlines
