WEC Group have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join the team based in Darwen, Lancashire. Working Monday – Friday 8:30am-5pm, 37.5hours per week, the successful Financial Accountant will receive a competitive salary of £35,000-£40,000 per annum dependant on experience.

Established for over 35 years and now one of the North West’s leading multi award winning Engineering companies, WEC Group Ltd is looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Financial Accountant to join our busy Finance team based in Darwen, Lancashire. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated Financial Accountant, who wishes to progress within a dynamic and rapidly expanding engineering firm.

Responsibilities the Financial Accountant will carry out:

Working within the Head Office Finance team, you will ensure that sound Financial Accounting disciplines are implemented and maintained. Your day to day responsibilities will include:

- Managing the general accounts team including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, to ensure a professional and efficient service is upheld.

- Leading the Credit Management and Credit Control functions to ensure any disputes are quickly resolved, collections are up to date and minimise any overdue balances.

- Managing the Payroll function to ensure timely payment of all salaries, processing of payroll journals, submission of any required benefit information and overseeing auto-enrolment pension scheme.

- Providing Support to the Treasury function regarding loans/interest/FX transactions as appropriate.

- Leading the company audit process, being the main point of contact to auditors and preparing files as required.

- Direct involvement in banking relationships, annual budget processing, and forecasting.

- Responsibility for cash management including cash books, bank reconciliation process and cash flow forecasting.

- Responsibility for staff mentoring, training and development for the team.

- Deputising for Financial Director as and when required.

The ideal Financial Accountant will have the below Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

- ACA/ACCA Qualified or equivalent.

- Previous experience at this level within manufacturing/engineering.

- Commercially aware with sound financial ethics, a confident approach and attention to detail.

- Self-motivated and deadline oriented with the ability to work under pressure and motivate/manage a team.

- Excellent communication skills at all levels.

- Strong IT skills with knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages.

- Knowledge of continuous improvement of processes, with strong problem solving ability.
