Compliance Manager for cutting-edge waste-to-energy plant

Would you like to be an integral part of operating a truly innovative biogas plant for an international energy group?

Join us as Compliance Manager of our new REnescience plant. REnescience is an innovative technology using enzymes to recover recyclable materials and generate energy from waste without incineration, thus reducing the amount of waste going to landfills. You will be responsible for heading the compliance activities at this new facility, which will be fully operational in the beginning of 2017. You will follow the construction phase and take an active part in the mobilisation of the plant from summer 2016.

REnescience is part of Bioenergy & Thermal Power which has 800 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. We own just below half of the thermal production capacity in Denmark and are at the forefront of the development within efficient use of biomass and reduction of the environmental impact through innovative bio-refining technologies.

You will be based at our Northwich site in Cheshire. However, you should expect some minor travelling in relation to your work.

Having the overall responsibility for QHSE, your key tasks will be to

  • plan, direct and manage the QHSE performance of the operations on site
  • monitor relevant legislation and ensure alignment on site, where required
  • perform and coordinate audits
  • manage claim issues after commissioning
  • motivate, coach and encourage all employees as regards QHSE matters
  • liaise with stakeholders and regulators
  • be responsible for managing on-site technicians who are responsible for waste and product analyses.

Initially, you will be tasked with assisting in the development and implementation of company standards and site operating procedures. You will be responsible for providing professional safety, occupational health, environmental and quality advice and ensuring that risks are effectively identified, managed and monitored.

Your qualifications and core competences include that you

  • have experience from a similar role within production environment and seeks career advancement into a new and progressive facility
  • preferably, have an academic background with a NEBOSH general certificate working towards a diploma, membership of IOSH, IEMA or a proven record in implementing, managing and developing fit-for-purpose and compliant management systems eg OHSAS, ISO9001 or ISO14001
  • have a strong practical understanding of relevant UK Health & Safety and Environmental legislation
  • are strongly committed to your work tasks within QHSE and have high ethical standards
  • have excellent communication skills and are able to build a good rapport with all stakeholders
  • have the ability to maintain a safe, secure and compliant work environment.
