Samlesbury Hall is a historic house located midway between Preston and Blackburn. The Hall is a registered charity (no. 526052) run by a board of trustees, which has opened its doors for the public to enjoy. Along with the historic rooms and gardens, the Hall has a restaurant, shop, and a small animal menagerie to name but a few attractions. We also host weddings year round.
Samlesbury Hall is looking for a customer service apprentice to assist in the running of the Hall.
They will be mainly working in the gift shop, and occasionally will be needed to assist in other areas of the Hall such as the restaurant, the front desk and the office.
• Answering enquiries (phone, e-mail and in person)
• Taking bookings
• Day to day running of the gift shop and ice cream parlour
• Using the till and handling sale transactions
• Responsible for stock (counts, rotation, receiving, processing, etc/)
• Looking after antique sales and working with vendors
• Creating displays and keeping the shop clean and tidy
• Assisting the restaurant tea during peak hours
• Greeting visitors and taking payments
• Working with volunteers & teaching them certain roles.
• Any other reasonable duties
33.5 hours per week
Sunday: 10.30am – 5.00pm
Monday 10.30am – 4.30pm
Tuesday 9.00am – 4.30pm
Wednesday 10.30am – 4.30pm
Thursday 9.00am – 4.30pm
£110.55 per week
Skills Required
You must be computer literate. This is vital as a lot of work will be done via computer (you will also need to teach others to use the system).
Good communication skills (face to face and via telephone and e-mail).
Competent using maths skills to work out percentage profit etc.
Qualifications
To show sound understanding of English and Maths (e.g. Maths and English GCSE A*-C or equivalent)
Personal Qualities
Friendly & easy to approach. You must be happy working with people.
Confident working alone, and managing and prioritising workload
Punctual
Eager to explore other areas of the business
Happy working in a team, as you will be working alongside volunteers.
