You will be required to work 40 hours within the working window of 7am and 5pm although some flexibility is required to meet business needs.

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to become part of Excalon’s Electrical Work Stream responsible for successful management of the Framework agreement with Electricity North West.

Your role
As a SAP, you will provide the electrical expertise necessary to facilitate projects and co-ordinate safe and effective programmes working to Utility Codes of Practice and Distribution Safety Rules and procedures.

Your responsibility will be to:
• Maintain your competence in accordance with legislative changes and customer requirements
• Be conversant with all relevant H&S legislation and promote a robust health and safety culture to facilitate a safe working environment during high voltage working
• Produce risk assessments and method statements and challenge unsafe behaviours
• Ensure procedures are up to date and available; conduct reviews of processes, procedures and safe systems of work for all contractors
• Develop a documented process for determining competency and document minimum competency requirements comprising training, experience, and qualification for operational and management positions.
• Complete task specific audits of all relevant employees / projects
• Conduct assessments of competences of all relevant employees ensuring that the minimum competencies are satisfied and that employees are trained and qualified for the work they carry out
• Manage DNO Relationships and create standard procedures for each DNO. Monitor works are in accordance with DNO’s requirements and all applicable regulations and laws in the U.K.
• Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures of the contractor and its customers
• Plan outages and produce switching programmes with System Control
• Make dead, isolate and earth high voltage electrical networks
• Identify and release apparatus to be worked on by issue of Safety Documents and Permits to Work
• Carry out high voltage testing and fault location
• Reenergise the network on completion
• Ensure commissioning targets are met.
• Provide support to projects, authorised and competent persons with regard to technical issues and safe working procedures

Applicants must have the following skills and experience:
• HNC/ONC in Electrical Engineering
• Be an existing SAP on HV/EHV systems with extensive operational experience (2 years experience as a SAP)
• Extensive knowledge of the design, construction, commissioning and operation of electrical plant and equipment on HV/EHV systems, including complex protection schemes.
• Previous experience of DNO relationship management including experience of DNO protocols, notice procedures, mandatory and advisory documentation.
• Proven experience of complex on site project and contract management
• Previous UK experience to competently work on equipment up to 400Kv including switchgear and transformer.
• Excellent level of IT literacy, strong working knowledge of Microsoft office suite
• In possession of a current valid driving license
