PRODUCTION PLANNER

Role Purpose

The Production Planner will prepare production schedules to establish sequence and lead times for different products to meet delivery dates according to forecasts and customer orders. You would be expected to work with the minimum of supervision and co-ordinate your activities with other members of the Office Team, Quality Control and Cold Store in order to provide a professional and efficient service to customers. You will need to ensure that all the appropriate supporting documentation is prepared. For example that bulk goods, production cards and appropriate packaging are in stock and readily available.

You will be expected to spend periods of time working under your own initiative and to carry out the duties in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the company. It is vital that confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Your normal working day would be 08.00 to 16.30, though inevitably some extra hours will be needed on occasion to complete certain tasks, you have an entitlement to 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays and before September 2016 you will be enrolled in a pension plan.

Production Planner Responsibilities

* To pro-actively plan and prepare all aspects of the production planning role to ensure that the factory meets its production schedule requirements.

* Order goods from outside cold storage facilities in a timely manner to ensure they can be used for future productions in line with factory schedule.

* To ensure all packaging is available for forward production orders.

* To raise all paperwork related to production orders, print production cards and ensure that appropriate codes and customer requirements are met

* To produce and analyze quality control results and seek satisfactory approval from customers before commencing production.

* Create production schedules according to orders and prioritize in line with stock levels and other relevant information.

* To generate completed orders following the analysis and checking of factory productions.

* To raise invoices for customers in a timely manner.

* Organize transport and input data onto computerized systems as necessary.

* Prepare new stock records and update stock records accordingly and update bag and box systems for factory. Liaise with customers, employees and visitors with a courteous and professional manner.

* Ensure efficient communications with factory members, internal & external cold stores and quality control.

* Maintain regular contact with the team throughout the day when necessary.

* Exercise Independent judgement and initiative based on acquired knowledge if problems arise.

* Be able to react to changes quickly and efficiently and ensure that all the relevant people are informed referring more complex matters up to the Sales and Logistic Manager.

* Expedite information when delays occur and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.

* To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and any others that may be affected by your acts and omissions at work.

* In the absence of the buyer the production planner may be required to prepare purchase orders for materials required.

* The post holder must be flexible in the duties performed and it is expected that similar duties not specifically listed above will be carried out as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Highly numerate with excellent GCSE Maths Grade
  • Good knowledge and experience of Word and Excel including setting up spreadsheets
