Position - Home Manager
Location - Ellesmere Port, Cheshire CH66 3JX
Hours - 39
Salary - circa £25,000 - £28,000 per annum, depending on qualifications
Personal Profile
* Fulfill the role of a Registered Manager ensuring that services meet the company standards
* Provide effective leadership and management of the staff team
SUPPORTING OBJECTIVES
* Manage service delivery and carry out regular audits to evaluate and improve service standards.
* Involve residents and staff in the development of services by providing regular opportunities for communication and consultation.
* Ensure that the needs of residents are met by enabling access to appropriate services.
* Ensure that residents receive initial assessments and that care packages are reviewed and evaluated in line with the company standards.
* Produce and continually develop a Business Plan for the home to meet with local, and legislative requirements.
* Manage the performance of the home using agreed performance management systems.
* Ensure that all financial processes are carried out according to the company standards.
* Market and develop the reputation of the home, its services and the company within the local community and with other stakeholders.
* Undertake risk assessment and implement identified measures as required.
* Investigate all complaints in line with the company standards.
* Produce an annual L&D plan for the home, ensuring all staff have fair access.
* Ensure all staff receive mandatory training and deliver specified training e.g. moving and handling.
* Undertake disciplinary and grievance investigations and chair disciplinary hearings.
* Ensure that all new staff receive both locality and home based induction.
* Act as Internal Verifier and Assessor for relevant NVQ awards.
* Facilitate the development of staff through coaching, supervision and appraisal.
* Ensure that all people management activity is conducted according to HR policy and procedures e.g. recruitment, performance management, appraisal.
* Liaise with Central Support to ensure that services are maintained accordingly.
* Maintain a safe workplace that minimises risk to health.
* Be responsible for own continuous professional development and undertake training as required.
* Attend all meetings and training events as required.
* Participate in an out of hours on-call rota.
* Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by line manager.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Essential
* Good written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with a variety of groups
* The ability to influence and motivate others
* A good understanding of the needs of older people and the care service market
* Good IT skills inc. E-mail, Internet and Microsoft Office applications
* Ability to build credibility and trust with staff at all levels of the organisation
* Ability to provide guidance and mentoring to other members of staff
Desirable
* A good understanding of financial management
* Numerate and a good level of analytical / problem solving skills
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
* Recent previous experience in a supervisory position in a care service environment
* Managing services that meet the needs of older people
* Experience of performance management
* Experience of staff management and employment practices
* Experience of managing budgets
* NVQ 4 in Health & Social Care
* Level 4 in Leadership and Management Award or Registered Managers Award or committed to achieving in 12 months of securing the post
Desirable
* Experience of change management
* A1 award
