Do you have experience of working in mental health or a related environment? Would you like to be part of an organisation that counts on the professionalism, insight, expertise and passion of its staff to inspire individual recovery for the people they work with? Then join us as a community link worker.
Recovery Focus is a new group of expert charities with the shared aim to inspire individual recovery nationwide. Between us we have a track record of more than 200 years of developing and running personalised services that work with people with mental health, substance misuse and other complex needs to achieve their ambitions. Each partner organisation has its own rich history of success, but together we believe we can lead the way in evidence-based recovery pathways, tailored to meet local and individual needs.
Right now, one of our partners, Richmond Fellowship, are looking for a community link worker to join their Wakefield community based service. Providing mental health support with a focus on promoting recovery, wellness and inclusion, the service is available to anyone aged 18 and over who lives in Wakefield and is recovering from, or living with, mental health problems. But, it’s only possible with the help of people like you.
Your challenge? To promote social inclusion and increase the independence and self-esteem of people using our services by helping them identify and achieve their goals. This will be achieved by providing a range of community based groups/sessions and promoting access to a range of activities within the wider community. It will also involve working with a team leader to develop and support a range of enjoyable and interesting social activities that are relevant to service users. Directly running or supervising groups or activities will be important too, as will managing your own caseload and providing each individual with their own needs and risk assessment and risk management plan.
As well as a good understanding of mental illness, you’ll need some experience of working with mental health services (or transferable skills from a related field). We’ll be looking for the ability to prioritise a busy workload, work well within a team and motivate and inspire others too. Proficient using office IT and willing to work some weekends and evenings, you also have the communication skills it takes to liaise effectively with a wide range of organisations and individuals.
In return, you can expect some great benefits, including 25 days' holiday, contributory pension scheme, employee assistance programme and childcare vouchers, plus exceptional professional development and training opportunities.
So, get inspired today and take the first steps towards a more fulfilling career.
This post is part-time for 16.5 hours per week and is offered as a fixed term contract ending 12th February 2017.
