What you’ll need
• Experience of working in a waste/logistics/transport/maintenance operation in a team leader/supervisor capacity. A COTC in Hazardous Waste Transfer would be desirable
• Good working knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation and Operations, experience of working in an environment where safety is a top priority
• Understanding of recycling and recyclable materials is an advantage
• Good verbal and written communication skills to facilitate inductions, training and communication with site staff, management, client, contractors and the public
• Strong numerical and literacy skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Strong leadership skills. Capable of leading by example and motivating site team to raise standards and improve performance.
• Commitment and determination to meet personal objectives in a timely manner. Strong drive and resilience.
• Ability to re-evaluate priorities, responding quickly and positively to change is imperative.
About the role
As Area Supervisor you will work with the Site Manager to supervise operations at Norwich HWRC and Transfer Station and Shipdham Transfer Station in accordance with FCC guidelines.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Ensuring the health and safety of all members of public, staff, visitors and contractors at site
• Monitoring of pedestrian and traffic movements in accordance with the Traffic Management Plan
• Inspecting site and equipment, ensuring routine maintenance is carried out and any defects are closed out within the appropriate timescales
• Managing site staff and day to day operations including staff rotas, induction of new employees and identifying employee training requirements
• Promoting high profile helpful, courteous and professional customer service practices
• Promoting and enforcing the need to maximize recycling levels
• Ensuring regular meetings with employees to encourage feedback and share new ideas in a consistent way
