About the Front End Developer role:

We’re growing our development team and are looking for an experienced JavaScript developer. This is an important and challenging role where you will enjoy working close to the business, jumping between “code-detective” and “developer” mind-sets, supporting the evolution of our technology.

You will join the Front End development team and work on refining our JavaScript components and building user interfaces for client projects. The role involves:

> Building new client sites and adding new features to existing projects
> Developing interfaces using RWD common practices
> Working with complex AJAX components
> Providing technical input to help develop innovative solutions for clients
> Troubleshooting technical problems
> Working with other teams to define and deliver high quality products and services for our clients.

About You:

You’ll be able to demonstrate excellent programming and team-working skills that will allow you to thrive in this environment. You’ll also show passion and enthusiasm for all aspects of web development. The role will also give you a chance to use and a range of front-end technologies such as Grunt/Gulp, Backbone.js and other common Front-end build-chain tools and frameworks.

You must have:

> A detailed knowledge and understanding of static and dynamic website development, including accessibility issues and an appreciation of standards based development
> Advanced CSS/HTML skills, including template-based site-building experience.
> Advanced working knowledge of JavaScript and an understanding of the ongoing evolution of ES2015/2016.
> An understanding of model-view-controller (MVC) architecture such as Backbone, Ember, or Angular, and CSS3 frameworks such asTwitter Bootstrap, HTML5 Boilerplate, etc.
> Experience developing within a *NIX OS – we use Ubuntu and OSX
> Experience using DVCS tools, e.g. Git or Mercurial
> The ability to prioritise, manage your own workload, and work well in a team
> Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to converse with people at all levels, especially non-technical

Nice but not essential:

> Familiarity with DevOps environments
> Notable developer-community interactions: e.g. Accounts for Stackoverflow, Github, (public) Bitbucket, LinkedIn, or similar
> Experience working directly with clients and 3rd party suppliers
> Experience working for a small company

We’re about 40 strong and based in a modern office located on a working farm in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside close to the cities of Leicester, Nottingham and Loughborough. We’re happy for people to work remotely, although you must be UK based.
