This SME manufacturing organisation is looking to train an operative to join their spraying/finishing department. The operative will desire to achieve a high standard of finish with a highly productive work ethic. Attention to detail is essential. Full training will be provided.

Duties:

- Follow procedures relating to Quality, Health and safety and environment (QHSE)
- Raise any issues immediately with line manager if you have any concerns relating to QHSE, or another line manager or director if your line manager is unavailable
- Support works health and safety representative to minimise risk and improve the working conditions
- Undertake and complete to a satisfactory standard any training or college courses that they may send you on.
- Complete quality control records
- Raise NCR's through the works NCR system so that improvements can be sort
- Do not leave running equipment unattended unless directed to do so by your line manager
- Follow managers and supervisors instructions
- To meet or exceed training plan goals
- Must not use and machinery and power tools unless authorized to do so.
- Must wear all required general and specific PPE
- Ensure machinery and equipment is maintained and safe, isolating/quarantining any that are unsafe until repaired or replaced.
- Maintain the quality control of materials and products within your area of responsibility.
- Ensure materials and processed products coming into the department meet quality requirements prior to commencement of further works
- Ensure both raw material and processed material is stored and handled in such a way as to minimise damage.
- Receive and scrutinise all works instruction where practicable and ensure they are adequate and complete before commencing work
- Resolve or assist to resolve potential production issues i.e. finding the best way to finish items through producing samples.
- Ensure safety checks are made and recorded for all breathing apparatus and extraction systems.
- General housekeeping of all areas, walkways, benches etc.
- Ensure that all records and systems are operated in line with IMS and COC requirements
- Ensure all material or product that is substandard is quarantined and cannot be mistakenly used.
- Ensure the higher risk activities of the spray shop are managed closely (if in doubt STOP) and double checked legal and IMS records are to be maintained
- Minimise waste & maximise productivity
- Work within the company Quality Acceptance Criteria
- Ensure that planned actions take into account minimising Environmental impact.
- Minimise risk of an environmental incident, reduce waste and or damage or loss of materials through sound planning and clear instruction

Pay will be in line with CITB rates if apprentice, or £7.50 per hour starting wage if 1st year improver working on a 4 year structured programme.
