As a Learning Support Officer, you will work as part of a team to facilitate high quality learning through the support of students aged from 14 – 19 who may display some challenging behaviour. This is a part time role to cover 25 hours per week over 35 weeks of the year.
Supporting teaching staff to develop the curriculum for students on flexible learning programmes, you will facilitate effective student learning across a variety of specified programmes both on and off college premises and supervise students at lunchtime and break times. Under the direction of teaching staff, you will liaise with parents and external agencies as appropriate, supervise the personal hygiene and health care requirements of students to ensure their comfort and cleanliness and assist in the development of learning resources/materials to meet individual learner needs.
Candidates for this role will have previous experience of supporting students in a learning situation, providing advice and guidance and of working with young people with complex learning difficulties, complex and challenging behaviour and physical disabilities. You must hold a Level 2 Learning Support Qualification (or have a willingness to achieve this within 1 year) and have the ability to facilitate learning across a mixed range of levels, modes and abilities.
