Do you have proven experience managing multiple processes, projects, data and personnel in the construction / engineering sector? Due to business growth, Calder Industrial Materials have an opening for a Construction Project Manager, with a high level of time-management, communication and planning skills, to join their team based in Chester.
Calder Industrial Materials is one of the UK’s leading building materials suppliers, delivering lead sheet and a wide range of ancillary products to builders’ merchants nationwide. In addition, Calder are also the UK’s leading specialist in lead engineering. The company designs, manufactures and installs radiation shielding and other products in the nuclear, medical and other markets.
Reporting to the Senior Projects Manager, as the Construction Project Manager you’ll oversee the Site Installation team and be responsible for the delivery of moderate size and complex customer healthcare projects, within the framework agreed at the client brief stage. The position will involve the planning, executing, controlling and closing of customer projects on time and to customer specifications.
Your duties will include, although not be limited to;
- Taking ownership for each project scope of work and contract terms with the customer
- Developing the project schedule to ensure regular communication to internal / external stakeholders as projects develop
- Determining project responsibilities, specifications, schedule, plan, costs and liaising with all stakeholders in terms of estimates, coordination of activities, schedule changes and recommended action plan
- Planning of manpower including the Site Installation team and subcontract work if required
- Preparing project budgets and reporting spend on projects
- Chairing weekly project team meetings to review progress, issues and risks
- Providing reactive support to business critical situations and processes
- Ensuring health and safety, and quality standards are maintained at all times
To be considered for this Construction Project Manager role you will have the following experience, qualifications, skills and attributes;
- Proven experience gained within a technical / civil project management role in the engineering / construction industry
- HNC / HND in a construction related discipline
- Ability to read and interpret engineering / architects drawings and plans
- Ability to work to specifications, Bill of Materials and standard model form civil contracts
- Superb fault finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to provide a high level of leadership
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Superb communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead by example and instill enthusiasm and commitment into co-workers
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to travel within the UK and overseas at short notice
The following experience and qualifications are desirable, although not essential;
- Experience working with blue chip construction companies is highly desirable
- CSCS, CPCS, SMSTS qualification

Salary: £30,000 - £38,000 per annum, level dependent on experience

Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday 08:30am – 17:00pm, Friday 08:30am – 12:30pm
Contracted Hours: 35 hours per week
