Mechanical Development Engineer (6 month contract)

Job Elements: -

• To provide a value engineering service in the development of new company products that are both “fit for purpose” and “fit for manufacture”, thus helping to sustain overall company profitability and growth.
• With a customer focus to design and develop new and technically innovative mechanical designs from concept to production release.
• Carry out or support engineering activities across the entire development process including but not limited to: research, concept and solution generation and selection, CAD modelling/drafting, calculations, risk analysis, D&PFMEA, tolerance analysis, prototyping, testing, design for manufacture and assembly reviews.
• Work within the cost and time targets agreed for each product.
• Work in accordance with the requirements of the relevant quality standards
• Attend and contribute to team meetings, project technical progress meetings and product development reviews as and when necessary.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related degree relevant to post (or equivalent)
• 3 years of professional engineering experience,
• Computer literate to include MS Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
• Strong ability for 3D modelling and 2D drafting using Solidworks.
• Good inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate well in English both written and orally.
• Strong organisational skills and capable of communication at all levels of the business.
• Analytical thinker capable of managing significant amounts of data.
