Product Tester

This warehouse based role in this successful ecommerce business is to help manage the delivery on all aspects of a products commercial viability with emphasis on quality, safety, legality and performance. Reporting to the QA Manager and working in conjunction with senior product technologists, buyers, supply chain & warehousing assist in delivering consistent quality products to the correct AQL by checking, testing and reporting on both prototype and stock products.

The Job:

- The physical selection of samples and preparation for testing
- Review of selected samples against product spec and online information
- Assessment of product packing including physical testing
- Checking samples by assembly and/or function
- Test rig construction and product assembly
- Setting up, operating and monitoring a range of products (existing and in development) over an agreed time period for longevity testing.
- Report creation detailing tests undertaken and results with photos.
- Investigating any quality issues raised by physically obtaining samples from warehouse stock to inspect and/or test.
- Review returns as directed by the Senior technologist
- Assist Technologist when on site
- Obtain materials / ingredients as required for weekly product testing.
- Develop and maintain testing schedules.

Need to know:

- College graduate or equivalent in a scientific subject
- Warehouse and/or QC experience
- Familiarity with small domestic appliances and household goods
- Electrical safety knowledge and advantage
- Experience in a technical role within either manufacture or retail with a proven track record of delivering results
- Computer literate

Need to show:

- Delivering technical aspects on time to a high standard
- Demonstrate great judgement and problem solving
- Delivers projects that will drive the quality and profit

Comfortable with:

- Multiple repeat test schedules
- Product Safety, Quality standards and product decisions
- The use of a wide range of product from electrical to DIY, household to sports equipment
- Working within Warehouse environment
- Understanding a products life cycle and new product development
- Visiting other sites or company offices (own transport essential)

Job location currently based at their Bolton Warehouse although subject to change and interviews may be conducted in Manchester.
